Things you need to know?
When you arrive to the hospital please keep left and drive to the front of the building where you will stop and check in at reception. Please do not keep driving, we will not be able to let you in the entrance gate until you have checked in and given us the following vital pieces of info: Your name, address and email, your mobile number, the passport of the animal.
Depending on the procedure/examination you may have to leave the animal overnight or it might be a short stay where you can avail of tea and coffee while you wait. Once you have
finished with the vet/nurse, you will come to reception to check out along with sorting your bill.
For any horses coming for surgery, we ask that you please ensure that the horses shoes have been pulled. There will be an extra charge on your bill if they have not been removed beforehand.
Will there be room to park my horsebox?
Yes, we have lots of room once you check in and drive around the back of the building.
Owners may leave their vehicle until the horse is discharged however this is at their own risk and we recommend trailers being locked.
Will I be able to come visit my animal while it is staying at the hospital?
Yes, of course but please ring our main reception so we can organise a time and day that suits everyone.
Can I find out how my horse is doing while at the hospital?
If you would like an update please give us a ring on our main reception line during office hours (8am-6pm). We are a very busy hospital and our clinicians are usually attending surgical and clinical cases during the day and may not be able to speak to you at that exact moment but our secretaries will pass your message onto the clinician.
You will be contacted if there is any update or change to your horses condition. Remember no news is good news!
I want to make an appointment?
Appointments can be made by calling our office on +353 52 6130795 between 8:00am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday only. Please note that our on-call team cannot schedule
appointments.
What information should I disclose to hospital staff?
Please let a member of staff know if you are uncomfortable loading/unloading your animal and if you need help. We have an unloading bay and plenty of hands to help. Do not feel embarrassed asking for help. Safety comes first!
The hospital is a very busy place especially during lameness clinics. Please make sure you are standing out of the way in a safe spot whilst waiting with your animal. No phones may be used while holding horses and children are strictly forbidden from entering the barns under any circumstances.
It is vital you let us know if your animal can be tricky in any way or is prone to biting,
kicking or raring. If the animal has never been twitched before or has been and acted
negatively towards it please again inform us. Inform a vet or a nurse if you know of any bad
reactions to drugs the animal may have previously had.
We need to know if the animal is yours or not and who is paying for the procedure. In this
case we will need to contact the owner for their details and payment information.
What are the hospital hours?
Monday - Friday 8 AM-6 PM. We are closed weekends and bank holidays with the exception of emergencies only. We see emergencies 24 hours/7 days a week.
How does my animals medication/prescription get filled?
If you would like your animal to go home with medication that has been prescribed, please let one of the nurses know who will pass along the script to be filled.
Any dispensary items cannot be billed and must be paid in full at the time of filling any prescription.
