Ger Kelly

MVB, MRCVS, Diplomate ECVS

Consultant Equine Surgeon

Ger Kelly MVB MRCVS Diplomate ECVS is a specialist equine surgeon and graduate of University College Dublin, where he also completed his surgical residency. Ger has particular expertise in equine surgery and lameness diagnosis and treatment.

Ann Derham

MVB, DVMS, DipECVS

Consultant Equine Surgeon

Ann qualified from UCD, Dublin in 2014, followed by two surgical internships in Hagyard's and Fethard. She completed her European boarded surgical residency programme at UCD, becoming an EBVS®️ European Specialist in Equine Surgery in 2021. Ann's main area of interest is in juvenile orthopaedics, urogenital surgery and minimally invasive standing surgery.

Cormac Feeney

Consultant Equine Surgeon

Cormac Feeney graduated from University College Dublin in 2003. He was a partner in and worked as an equine surgeon in Troytown Equine Hospital on the Curragh for twenty years. He joined Fethard Equine Hospital in 2023 and brings a wealth of experience to our surgical team.

Jesús García-Macías

MVDr, CertAVP

Internal Medicine

Jesús graduated from the University of Córdoba, Spain, in 2014. He spent a year working at a referral hospital in southern Spain before relocating to Ireland in 2015, following earlier externship experiences in the country. Since graduation, he has been fully dedicated to equine practice, including two breeding seasons in the Southern Hemisphere and earned a postgraduate diploma in Equine Internal Medicine from the University of Liverpool in 2021. He joined Fethard Equine Hospital in 2021. He leads the medicine and neonatal intensive care unit where he oversees the treatment of more than 200 sick foals and over 400 medicine cases annually.

Rafa Alzola 

BVMS, MSc, CertAVP (EP, ESST, ESO, VDI), Dipl. ECVSMR, Dipl. ECVS MRCVS.

Consultant Equine Surgeon

Rafa qualified from the University of Zaragoza, Spain, in 2001. Since then, he successfully completed four RCVS Certificates in Advanced Veterinary Practice (CertAVP) and a Master of Science at the University of Liverpool (UK) while working at two equine referral hospitals in the UK. He followed this with an European Boarded Surgical Residency programme at the University of Nottingham - Oakham Veterinary Hospital (UK). He became an EBVS European Specialist in Equine Sport Medicine and Rehabilitation (ECVSMR) in 2023 and he also became an European Specialist in Equine Surgery (ECVS) in 2024.
